(GES, S.S.Girls College, Gondia, 2007-01-05) Editor - Dr (Ms) Lalita Roychoudhary and Dr (Shri) N.K.Bahekar
The '23rd Annual National Geography Conference on Sustainable Development : An Interdisciplinary Approach' was a three-day event held from January 5th to 7th, 2007, and organised by Gondia Education Society's S.S. Girls College Gondia. The Geography department hosted the event, with Prof. Mamta R. Prasad, the head of the department, serving as the organising secretary. The conference aimed to raise awareness about environmental conservation, emphasising that nature has supported humanity for centuries by providing essentials like food and fuel. It addressed key issues of sustainable development, including understanding available resources and assessing current usage within socio-economic frameworks. Modern techniques like remote sensing, GIS, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Global Reporting Initiatives (GRI), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and the System of Environmental and Economic Accounting(SEEA) were also showcased.
