(Deptt. Of Extension Education, SSGC, 2014) Jyoti Premlal Hadge (B.S.C Home Science 2nd Year )
Save the Girl Child, a poem written in Marathi The girl child asks society, "Sarvan na aai havi aste, bayko havi aste, Prem Karayala Preyasi Havi Asate, Mag Poti mulgi ka Nako Asate. Samanjas bana faqt Susanskrut nako" Meaning (from the girl child's perspective): "Everyone desires a mother, a wife, a beloved to love, so why don't they want a girl child like me? Be sensible, not just 'civilised.'" The poem underscores society's conflicting attitudes towards girls.
