The Topic of the seminar has a special significance in the context of recent developments in the informal sector. The Informal Sector has become an essential segment of the Economies of developing countries. Despite rapid industrialisation and the expansion of the formal sector, the urban areas of the developing world have failed to provide employment for all those who have migrated to cities and towns in search of jobs. However, the large number of rural migrants to the urban areas seems to have created their own employment opportunities by engaging themselves in Various informal sector activities. Nationally and at the state level, governments have overlooked their interests and infrastructure requirements in their development strategies.
